News and Events Oppose the Panama FTA! The political wheels continue to turn, as the Administration considers whether the Panama FTA can be passed. There was a hearing in the Senate Finance Committee yesterday. Check out the criticisms offered by AFL-CIO's Thea Lee in her testimony on the Panama FTA.Read an op-ed by Stephanie Celt and David Batker of Earth Economics in the Seattle Times: "Panama wrong choice for Obama's first trade deal." The Washington Fair Trade Coalition has finished the pilot phase of our national Trade Stories Project, and we are plowing along with new interviews. The goal of this project is to increase public participation and accountability in trade policymaking by collecting and documenting stories of real people whose lives have been negatively affected by the current free trade system. Please visit the national Trade Stories Project website to hear the stories that we have collected so far, and to take action for fair trade. You can also share your own story on the website! Let us know how free trade has worked for you. We will highlight a new story each week, so check back regularly! This project is based off the Oregon Stories Project that was started in 2005 by the Oregon Fair Trade Campaign.
